The Guardian Angels of Gentle Carousel are a very special breed of dog called Maremma sheepdogs. Maremmas have been traced back 2,000 years to the Italian region of Abruzzo where they protected herd animals from thieves and wild predators.

Our Maremma sheepdogs help protect the tiny miniature therapy horses, live with them, and consider themselves part of the herd. Without the protection of the Guardian Angels, our therapy horses could not live natural and safe lives on their farm when they are off duty.

With a large social media following and appearances on television shows like Animal Planet and Best Friends FurEver with Kel Mitchell and in magazines like Modern Dog, Dogster, Woman’s World, Animals and You, and many more, the Guardian Angels have become as well known as the therapy horses they protect.
