On the afternoon of May 20, 2013, a destructive EF5 tornado struck Moore, Oklahoma and adjacent areas, with peak winds estimated at 210 mph. Twenty-four people died and 377 others were injured. Among the hardest hit areas were two public schools, Briarwood Elementary School and Plaza Towers Elementary School. Seven third graders inside Plaza Towers lost their lives when the structure’s walls collapsed.

Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses was contacted by the community and drove to Oklahoma to support the school children and their families.
